NSW: Woman lured into Kings Cross alley and assaulted

SYDNEY, April 2 AAP - Police have offered a reward for information which helps them catch
a man who sexually assaulted a woman after luring her into a Kings Cross alley.

The woman was attacked in Earl Place about 1am (AEST) on Sunday, March 14, after being
approached by the man on Darlinghurst Road.

Sergeant Peter Bailey said the man offered to sell the woman some second-hand Louis Vuitton
luggage and the pair had coffee at a nearby cafe.

The man offered to show the victim the luggage, but as they walked along Springfield Mall,
the woman said she felt uncomfortable about walking towards a dark alley.

She was then pushed into an alcove in Earl Place and sexually assaulted.

Sgt Bailey said the man was of Mediterranean appearance, about 30-years-old, between
175-180cm and of obese build. He was wearing blue jeans and a grey or black shirt.

"Even though the attack took place at 1am (AEST), it is a relatively busy area with bars,
nightclubs and restaurants," Sgt Bailey said.

"There may be other people who witnessed this attack".

He warned anyone who was approached by a person in similar circumstances to be cautious and
stay visible to the public.

Anyone with information should call Crimestoppers on 1800 333 000, with a reward of $1,000
offered for information leading to an arrest.
